Hucakbee’s Off My List

Hat tip to The Anchoress:

“[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards.”

— Mike Huckabee, campaigning in Michigan last night.

I’m sorry, but that is just not acceptable to me. The Constitution is the Constitution, not the Bible. I’m not one for excluding religion completely from the public square, but this is more than a step too far. Besides, since Huck’s a Baptist minister, I am willing to bet that he’s got very different ideas on what the Bible means than I do. (If he didn’t, he’d be Catholic, too.)

More commentary here and here. I especially like this commentary.
