Interesting Juxtiposition

Let’s take two news articles (both found via Headline Bistro at the K of C site).  First, a look at how the administration is working with that porkulus bill:

Obama Presses Cabinet to Speed Stimulus Spending

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama said Monday he was “not satisfied” with the pace of the economic-stimulus effort and called for cabinet members to accelerate the spending in the weeks ahead, countering criticism of his economic strategy.

Now, let’s look at this other one, in relation to what’s happened since they first passed the porkulus:

WH, Analysts Say Earlier Stimulus Predictions Too Optimistic

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama assured the nation his recovery plan was on track Monday, scrambling to calm Americans unnerved by unemployment rates still persistently rising nearly four months after he signed the biggest economic stimulus in history.

Basically, it’s back and forth between “We aren’t borrowing fast enough!  Spend more money!” and “Wow, we won’t see improvement for a while, so just shut up while we spend your great-grandkids’ money.”
And do you think we aren’t borrowing enough already?  Then you’d be with the president on that, too.  Because that health care takeover he’s planning – the one that will push us towards the same situations as Canada and the UK – is on his wish list, and he’s willing to take out another credit card to pay for it.

Obama: It’s OK to Borrow to Pay for Health Care

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Tuesday proposed budget rules that would allow Congress to borrow tens of billions of dollars and put the nation deeper in debt to jump-start the administration’s emerging health care overhaul. The “pay-as-you-go” budget formula plan is significantly weaker than a proposal Obama issued with little fanfare last month.

But, hey, ordinary Americans, you need to be more responsible and not borrow more than you make.  Us?  Oh, don’t worry, we subscribe to the Lay’s theory of spending.  Spend all you want.  We’ll make more!
It makes me sick.  I knew things would be bad economically with Obama thrusting us towards fascism and socialism, but I didn’t know it would be so swift!  Where are the checks and balances?  Where are the press corps asking questions about this and pressing for real answers?  Who is our guardian of truth here?
Answer: You are on your own.  The press is too busy worshipping the president as a god, and Congress has no spine whatsoever.  They’re too in love with the power they wield over us all.
